it took me a while to set this shot up, because this knife is all rusted and nasty so trying to get everything open and then stay where i wanted it to without getting cut was quite a task.
i was giving a guitar lesson yesterday and one of my students had a swiss army knife near where I was sitting so I was fiddling with it while he was warming up and i pulled out the scissors part of the knife and just sat there and looked at it and wondered to myself... "self, what you could really cut with this?!" The multi tool revolution was a great 'idea' but when it comes down to it, its also worthless.
None of these tools, can hold a candle to a dedicated single tool. There's even a saw in this little knife... what am I going to saw through with this?
But it hit me today as I was sitting at work how much we are like these little swiss army knives. We focus so hard at being well rounded and knowing and being able to do a lot of things, all the time suffering because although we have quantity... we lack quality.

have a nice night!
ponder that profundity...
(where you there when Scott Brown said profundity?)
James,
I was hiking in Maine a couple summers ago, along a trail with my 95 year old grandmother in tow. Don't ask me why she wanted to go, but ... hey, I didn't mean for this to rhyme, you know?
Anyway, there was a branch fallen down over the trail at eye-level-- you had to step off the trail and duck to avoid the thing, and grandma was not only frail but blind.
Handy dandy swiss army knife saw to the rescue! Made short(er) order of that branch, and saved the day. Gramma was able to complete the journey without a scratch or a broken hip.
Of course, that knife has gone missing (or turned up missing, as some around here like to say)... and other than missing it, I haven't missed it.
lol! theo... we need to kick it soon. i need to impress you with my vast amts of knowledge that i'm learning from this class... haha. excercising my brain is hard man. excercising anything in general is hard... i think i was created to sleep... yup thats my calling... i'm good at that.
I don't think I was...I'll have to listen to the sermons online and hear it. was it one of the Feasts sermons?
nah... it was in the summer it was right before my team left for latvia... we thought it was the funniest thing... he's said it again since then i had never heard such a word but it does exist.
